Far Cry Primal is one of the recent slew of games that has been released that seeks to draw the gamers playing them back into a setting where they don’t have an ever more powerful weapon. It takes place in the prehistoric setting of the world in which all of the Far Cry games take place, which basically limits you to a bow and arrow and stone weapons.
Far Cry Primal is a prequel of sorts to the others in the franchise, although it really can be played as a stand alone game without needing to get invested in the rest of them. The game follows the life of Takkar, a hunter from the Wenja tribe who, on a hunting trip, gets ambushed by a Sabre Tooth Cat, along with the rest of his hunting party, an event that leaves him as the soul survivor.
Takkar is sent on a quest to stop the leader of the Udam tribe, Ull, who has been attacking and destroying Wenja settlements and cannabilising their people. Over that period, he encounters a lot of things, including a shaman that teaches him how to gain control of animals and turn them into your companions.
