Most of the multiplayer games I play, in fact most of the multiplayer games I own, are faster paced ones. Be they shooters or sports games or anything in between they all tend to be higher octane experiences and extremely competitive ones at that. They tend to involve fast reflexes, quick thinking and no small amount of trash talking as the kills rack up or the point start to climb in your favour.
There is something to be said for those slower paced games out there as well. Games along the lines of chess which, of course, videogames take massive cues from. Tactical thinking, slow burning strategy and that slow, intense crush of a plan coming together. There’s no luck involved, no random grenade throw landing at the feet of an opponent. Here everything you do is part of one overall plan. It rewards those people who can think several moves ahead and have the foresight to execute on their plans.
